New Leadership at Gaziantep Bar Association

The Gaziantep Bar Association held its general assembly in the conference hall, where a spirited election for the presidency took place. The candidates competing for this esteemed position included Melikşah Korkmaz, Emine Sevil Koyuncu, İbrahim Onur Ağalın, Bülent Duran, and Kenan Tarık Polat. Voting began promptly at 9:00 AM and saw participation from 3,384 legal professionals.

Outcome of the Election and Voter Engagement

As voting wrapped up at 5:00 PM, the counting of ballots commenced. In this election with five contenders and a total of 2,102 valid votes cast, Bülent Duran claimed victory with 609 votes. He was closely trailed by Melikşah Korkmaz who secured 593 votes.

The other candidates received the following vote counts: İbrahim Onur Ağalın garnered 459 votes; Kenan Tarık Polat received 253 votes; while Emine Sevil Koyuncu obtained 189 votes.

Bülent Duran’s Pledge to Uphold Justice

Following his election as president, Bülent Duran expressed his unwavering commitment to justice in his inaugural statement. “This role comes with significant challenges; however, I have consistently supported my fellow attorneys during their toughest moments even before I entered this race,” he remarked. “I have been an ally to all those in our city and region who seek or advocate for justice. Our profession carries immense responsibilities towards our colleagues; it is indeed a substantial weight but as your bar president I will ensure that your efforts are recognized.”

Duran reaffirmed his dedication to those advocating for justice within the Gaziantep community during his acceptance address. “I will make certain that your hard work is acknowledged,” he promised.
